Philadelphia Regions SCCA 2007
Spring Novice Drivers School

It’s that time again!!!

The Philadelphia Novice School is back. The school will consist of a classroom session and a driving session, plus the chance to show what you learned. The classroom session will be held at Julie’s Seafood Factory in Willow Grove on 611 right across from the Naval Station on Friday April 13th, from 7:30 PM until 10:00 PM. The driving portion of the school will be held at Warminster Community Park on April 14th from 8 AM to 4 PM. Both the classroom session and the driving session will be taught by some of our finest national competitors. In the classroom session we will be discussing the finer points of car control. The Friday session is mandatory for those wishing to enter the school. Those attending the school are encouraged to join the Sunday, April 15th Philly Region Solo II event in the same lot at no cost. The cost of the school is $125 by check or cash, or $130 by Paypal (to cover their fee).

Lunch will be provided. We will have hoagies for lunch, so please select your preference on the registration form. No food will be provided at Julie’s, but you can order from their extensive menu, which includes much more than just seafood.

About the Car

The Philly Region requires that you have at least TWO functioning seats along with functioning safety equipment for each seat. ALL Cars must pass a standard SCCA Solo safety tech inspection, which entails wheels on solid, tight battery, and all loose parts in the car, trunk and under the hood are removed. Cars will be taking multiple runs. Please be advised that if your car overheats or has clutch or any other problems under these conditions you might want to consider other alternatives. If you intend to change tires, try to arrive early.

About the Participant
Drivers with more than two years of autocrossing experience are not eligible to participate in the novice school. Two driver cars will be allowed but not recommended. (Each driver must fill out a separate form for a two-driver car but it must be noted on the form). All Participants must have a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit and be at least 16 years of age. If a participant holds only a learner’s permit, an adult supervisor must accompany them.

You should have properly rated helmet, Snell 95 or M 95 or better. If you do not we will have a limited number of loaner helmets in various sizes. All SCCA Solo rules will be strictly enforced.

All information must be filled in for you to be considered as a participant. An incomplete form may delay your reservation so please fill it out carefully and NEATLY. As far as participants, generally students should have less than a year of autoxing experience, and there is no minimum level of experience. All minors need to be accompanied by a legal guardian. More experienced students are also welcome, particularly if you feel you could use some help getting back to the basics.

Although you can print off the above message to use as a registration form, we will have the offical form up shortly as well.
